CHFE Palavánek

In 1974, at the elementary school in Horní Věstonice, on the initiative of the headmistress Zlatislava Krůzová, an ethnography club was formed, which occasionally added variety to cultural and social events in the village with its performances. Pupils from the 1st to 4th year of elementary school participated in the work of the club.

What happened next?

The ensemble acquired costumes corresponding to the Kyjovské Dolňácko region, specifically the village of Ratíškovice, and started to focus its repertoire on other areas from which people came to settle the borderlands after World War II. From 1975 the club has been working under the name DNS Palavánek.

Until 1979 the ensemble had no musical accompaniment. From that year it was accompanied by the dulcimer band of Jan Vondráček. Cooperation with the Mikulov art school started in 1982 and (apart from a short break in the 1990s) continues to this day.

Throughout its history the ensemble received many awards from district, regional and international festivals, worked with Czechoslovak Television and BROLN, and took part in many domestic and foreign festivals (Izegem – Belgium, Ankara – Turkey and others). In 2005 the ensemble won the 2nd Children's Olympics in Brno.

The leaders of the ensemble today are Marie and Martina Dostálová.
